Strava, Garmin Connect, Komoot — they all record motorcycle rides. But to see your friend's ride, you need to install their app, create an account, and friend them. That's three friction steps for a five-minute "look where I went" moment.
Uniq Intercom takes a different approach. Each ride is automatically recorded as a GPS path. After the ride, the rider taps "Share" and gets a public web URL. That URL opens in any browser — phone, laptop, tablet — and shows the route on a real map with distance, duration, start, and end points. The recipient doesn't need Uniq installed.
How It Works
Record automatically
When you start an intercom session — or even just open the app and tap "Track ride" — Uniq records GPS, speed, and altitude in the background. Phone in your pocket. No setup.
End ride, tap Share
When you stop, Uniq summarizes the ride: distance, time, route shape on a mini map. Tap "Share Route" — you get a public web URL.
Send the link, that's it
WhatsApp, Instagram DM, Facebook, Telegram, email — paste the link anywhere. Friends tap it, the route opens in their browser. No app install. No account. No login.
Use Without Intercom — Just for Tracking
Uniq Intercom is best known for group voice communication, but the route tracker works standalone. You can use it solo just to record and share your rides — no group, no microphone, no Bluetooth headset required.
This is useful when:
- You're riding solo and just want to log the route for later
- You don't want to talk during the ride but want to share the trip afterward
- You're documenting a multi-day tour for a blog post or social media
- You ride with friends but they're not on Uniq — share your side of the route anyway
Compared to Strava / Garmin Connect / Komoot
These are all great apps. Each does one thing better than us, and one thing worse:
- Strava — Best for fitness/social tracking. Recipient needs Strava account to view privately. Public URLs require fitness data exposure.
- Garmin Connect — Best for Garmin device owners. Recipient needs to install Garmin Connect app + Garmin account.
- Komoot — Best for planning routes ahead. Sharing recorded rides is paywalled in some regions.
- Uniq Intercom — One-tap public web link. Recipient opens in any browser. Built specifically for motorcycles, not running/cycling. Free with the app, no separate subscription.
Privacy & Control
- Public links are revocable. Tap "Revoke" in the app and the URL stops working immediately.
- Per-tour rate limit. You can revoke and re-share, but with a 2/24h limit per ride to prevent abuse.
- No account required to view. Just a URL — no friend requests, no login walls.
- You control what's shared. Just the route polyline and basic stats, no personal data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my friend need the Uniq app to see the route?
No. The route share link opens in any browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, mobile, desktop, anywhere. They just tap the link.
How long are routes stored?
Indefinitely while you're an active user. You can revoke a share link any time, which removes public access.
Does this use a lot of mobile data?
No. GPS recording uses no internet — it just reads your phone's GPS chip locally. Sharing the route is a single API call (~5 KB).
Can I export to GPX for Garmin?
GPX export isn't available right now — currently the share is web-link only. We'll add GPX export based on user demand.
Can I use the route tracker without paying for Uniq?
